Practice midterms

I’ve gotten a couple of questions about where the practice midterms and keys are, sorry it wasn’t clearer. But if you’re still looking for them, they are on the schedule page (click “Schedule” up at the top of the page) and then look for March 4, the practice tests and keys are linked in there, as well as the “Summary I” reading that I handed out in class. (The key for homework 5 is not on the schedule, but on the “Readings” page, as announced in the previous blog post.)

Homework 5 due on 3/4 (not 2/27)

Just so it is officially posted here, the homework that says it is due on Feb 27 is not. It is due instead on the Tuesday following it, Mar 4. We didn’t get far enough by the time I assigned it, though now we have just barely covered all of the relevant stuff in class.

Homework 0

Here’s the first “homework”, just a couple of demographic questions for you. You can email your answers to me. If I did it right, you can click here to start your email with the questions already there. But the questions are:

What other Linguistics courses (or related courses) have you taken?

What are your (actual or planned) major/minors?

What languages (other than English) do you know, and how well?

What language(s) did you grow up speaking?

Do you prefer to be called something other than what I see in the class list?1

Anything else that seems relevant?

1Within reason, that is. “Your Excellence” is not a valid answer here.

Future home of the LX 522 page

This is just a placeholder for now, but this is where the course page for LX 522 will be. The schedule will be mostly final by the first day of classes (not likely much before then), and will be actually final by the last day of classes (so, check here for updates to the schedule throughout the semester).
