Website updated

I just noticed that I forgot to update the course web page, and I have now done it. It previously contained incorrect information about the readings for Tuesday. The readings for Tuesday are those listed on the homework sheet I handed out: Rizzi 1997 and Rizzi 1999. (If you read the Ko paper, sorry about that—it is a good paper, but I was planning on talking about it later in the semester. So, that effort wasn’t for nothing, I just planned to set it up a bit more first.)

Fifth Annual Harvard Undergraduate Linguistics Colloquium

Harvard is once again holding an undergraduate linguistics colloquium, April 28-29, 2007.

The Call for Papers indicates a deadline of March 16 for one-page abstracts proposing a talk or roundtable discussion.

So, if you have a project underway that you might like to report on or discuss, by all means submit an abstract (I can help advise on that if you’re interested), and in any event, consider attending when April rolls around.

BULA meeting Wednesday 4pm

As Morgan informed many of us over email (but I’ll post it here for anyone who may have escaped), the BULA (Boston Universityundergradate Linguistics Assn) is meeting Wednesday (tomorrow):

BULA (the Boston University undergraduate Linguistics Association) will be having its first meeting of the semester this Wednesday at 4:00pm in Professor Neidle’s office (621 Comm. Ave., Room 101). We are also looking for people to assist the e-board in planning events, and anyone interested should attend the meeting to find out more. So if you’re looking to get more involved with Linguistics and on-campus events, stop on by!

Homework #1 is shorter than you think

After discussing homework #1 with someone in my office, I observed that it actually contains an extra—and unintentional—bit of homework there at the end.

Please ignore the bit about writing a summary and explaining (56-7). Just doe the three tasks above it.

I’ll email everyone to let them know, although please check the blog regularly in the future for information of this sort (though I hope this is the last of the typos).

Office hours clarification

Just to clarify (since a typo slipped through on the information sheet I handed out), my office hours this semester are:

  • Mondays 11-12
  • Tuesdays 2-3
  • Wednesdays 3-4

As usual, this is generally “walk-in” time, but if you want to set up a time to meet other than the times listed above, just let me know.
