Video 9, for Thursday

Here’s the next video, it’s another hour-ish-long one: Video 9, the 8th video. And the handout.

At the end of the video I speculate about how I might put up an additional video or something, to show some worked-out examples, since the video is mainly running through the theory and the ideas, without a lot of individual examples provided. I still may do that, though I think it will be a couple of days before it arrives. Check back here, maybe Monday evening.

Real handout for Video 6

Oops. I accidentally cut the handout for Video 6 off at the first 6 slides, rather than the 6 pages it was supposed to be. The real handout is here: Real handout 6, and I’ll go back and update the link on the previous post to point to this as well (so if you were slow to grab the handout, you won’t have noticed).

Video 5, for Tuesday

Video 5 is finally available. It is here: Video 5. And the accompanying handout is here: Handout 5. This one is longer than the prior ones, it clocked in at 1:08. I will try to keep future ones below the 1 hour mark where possible.

In it, there are a couple of things to do in preparation for class. One of them is to work out how to assemble “Chris glanced at Pat.” Not for turning in, but for discussing. The other is at the end, thinking about complements and adjuncts and why the last sentence on the handout is ungrammatical.
